Owner: Boymelgreen Developers Architect: Elena Kalman Location: Brooklyn, New York
Located off of Kensington’s desirable Park Circle, Coney on the Park is just a few steps from Brooklyn’s very own urban oasis: Prospect Park. Offering the best of metropolitan living with a heaping helping of botanical beauty, this low-rise nine-story luxury condominium building boasts stunning panoramas of the Park. Clean architectural lines are complemented by oversized windows that infuse each unit with sunlight. This gleaming contemporary building in steel and glass is replete with modern amenities, including central AC, on-site parking, and a common roof terrace. Mehandes Engineering provided full MEP/FP services for this new development. Design Considerations:
Luxury was the operative word for Coney on the Park. Individual stack heat pumps with a cooling tower located on the roof and a boiler room in the cellar allows tenants to adjust the climate of their apartments to suit their individual comfort levels during transitional seasons. During the development of the structure, Mehandes was challenged to maintain ceiling heights in the bedroom. To achieve this, Mehandes coordinated closely with the architect to minimize ductwork over the living areas and bedrooms, and concentrate the ductwork over the bathrooms and closets.
